All Hail Sir Robin!

January 18 - May 4, 2008 on Broadway

Clay Aiken, who became a music superstar following his success on the American Idol television series, will join the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Monty Python's SPAMALOT, making his Broadway debut in the role of Sir Robin, at the Shubert Theatre, New York, from January 18 to May 4, 2008.

Tickets are available online now at telecharge.com
or by calling (212) 239-6200 and (800) 432-7250.

Directed by Mike Nichols, who won his eighth Tony Award for his direction of the new musical, Monty Python's SPAMALOT has a book by Eric Idle, "lovingly ripped-off" from the screenplay of the Pythons' best- loved film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin. The music is by Eric Idle and John DuPrez.

Clay Aiken, who has sold more than 6 million albums; co-authored a best-selling book; and, played six sold-out concert tours, said:

"I really couldn't have asked for a more wonderful group of people to work with. Let's not lie, the chance to work with legendary creative minds like Mike Nichols and Eric Idle is, on its own, a reason to jump at this opportunity. But, that's not all. The producers and creative folks I have had the chance to meet and work with so far have been unbelievably welcoming and wonderful. They've really made me feel at home already, and I haven't even started yet!"

Director Mike Nichols said:

"Clay Aiken is amazing beyond that glorious voice. Turns out he is an excellent comic actor and a master of character. People will be surprised by his wide ranging talent, since the first impression is of great country charm and a singer to remember. This guy is not only a star, he is a lot more. We are lucky to get him for SPAMALOT."

SPAMALOT author and original Python, Eric Idle, commented:

"This is great news. I have been a Clay Aiken fan ever since I took my daughter to see him live on the second season of American Idol and she held up a big sign of his name. Maybe now it should read 'American Idle.'"

This is fantastic news. Clay deserves this opportunity and I'm sure he is going to do a great job as Sir Robin. Reading the accolades from 2 very well- known and respected men in the industry was icing on the cake. Congratulations to Clay!

This is also a whole new beginning for Clay and for all his fans. His press release was incredible, and the alerts that have been coming thru via email have been non-stop and wonderful.

Five years later and we are still celebrating. Clay will never be locked in any one kind of box. He is multi-talented, and so much more than just a flavor of the month singer. Congrats Clay - you deserve this.

Can't wait to be there to see you. Break a leg. :)

It's my understanding that "Spamalot," which began it's Broadway run in March of 2005, will hold it's final performance on May 4, 2008, and then the show will close. For those who live in the area, the May 4th performance may be the one you won't want to miss.

At that time, AIR will be winding down; AI7 will be reaching it's finale and hopefully Clay's new CD will be ready to debut and he'll begin a summer tour, with amazing singles being released. Then will come the award shows...

2008 is destined to be a great year for Clay...it's about time! In reading Clay's post last night at the OFC, and the fact he was a little "misty," I think he may be a little nostalgic, realizing one chapter of his career is closing, yet he's excited that a new one is about to begin. I think he knows that those of us who have been with him since the beginning and shared the "adversity," will still be here, although lost among many new fans.

I wish him hope, health and happiness. Break a leg, Clay!!

What a wonderful opportunity for Clay at this time in his life. It looks like 2008 is going to a very busy year, with the Broadway run, new CD, promotion for the CD, and possible tour. Exciting for Clay and the fans, too. I'm so glad he doesn't let the gossips define him and has no fear of their poison. Break a leg, Sir Robin!

Mike Nichols certainly was complimentary towards Clay, and he knows what to look for in a star. This is a wonderful opportunity for Clay to show off his many talents.

I wish him all the luck in the world for this new opportunity.

I'm STILL on a high! What exciting times in Clay Nation! Clay is going to knock Broadway on its heels. They know he can sing, but they have no idea how great an actor and comedian he is. I can't wait to see Spamalot with the most handsome, most entertaining, most charismatic Sir Robin who has ever graced the Broadway stage. Wheeeeeeeee!

But I have to say the best part is watching the hater's heads explode as they spin and spin and spin. Too funny!

Wow....I guess it never fails that in the wake of celebration there always has to be some idiotic wankers to bring it down.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Don't pay any attention to the wankers. Go watch 11:04's Broadway montage instead. :)

  24. Anonymous11:50 AM

Who cares what the idiot wankers think, anyway? They're such losers, they have to live their lives trying to bring others down in order to feel better about their own pathetic selves. Who would ever want to be that insecure?

  25. Let's see. Clay is touring, recording a new CD, staring in a Broadway play, and making alot of money. The haters are sitting on their fat butts, wasting their lives in front of their computers spewing lies. Jealous much?

Go get 'em, Clay! We're all sooo proud of you! I'll be sitting in the audience on your opening night cheering you on! We love you!

  26. I don't care any more about the people who areobsessed with Clay in a negative way. The haters have given him there best shot. 4 years and still they can't let go of their sour grapes and petty jealousies, I have no more time to spend on them or there childish games. The gay sites are so pathetic in their need to colour everyone gay that they don't want to hear the truth, in fact they can't handle the truth, Where have I heard that before?

    ReplyDelete
  27. The people important in Clay's life know the truth. That includes the 99% of his fans he said knew him.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anonymous3:34 PM

The thing is, no matter how much those self-hating gay bloggers and moronic media talking-heads try to label Clay as gay, they will NEVER make him be so - nor can they ever convince us that he is. Those people just continue to show the world how small and petty and truly worthless they are.

    I found this quote on a friend's blog (she's a Clay fan)

"Haters Make You Famous, Lovers Make You Rich" - Taysha Smith Valez, CEO of HCouture Beauty

The haters are only making Clay more famous and of course, we lovers make him rich because we can and want to. What are the haters going to do? Continue to make Clay more famous.

I have said this so many times and I will say it again.

Clay Aiken must be one powerful person to have so many haters trying to bring him down.

If he was a nobody they wouldn't still be at it after five years.

I love that Clay Aiken guy. He is one of a kind.

The biggest compliment to Clay would be if they extend the show beyond May 4th because of his performance.

That date is when the show is supposed to close.

CAN YOU IMAGINE THE HATERS' HEADS EXPLODING IF THAT HAPPENS! LOL!

What is your favorite Clay Aiken song?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anonymous3:39 PM

Krissie is Kristin/Jessie, who claimed that she had been dating Clay and that one of her kids is Clay's. She has now admitted that she's never met Clay and that people will believe anything.

John apparently believed her and according to her, he kept pressuring her to say that she turned down Clay's offer of marriage because she found out he was gay.

Clay hasn't met either John or Kristin/Jessie. Some people think they are just so irresistible when they are really just losers, con artists and attention whores.

My favorite Clay Aiken song is...I have three favorites by him. One of them is called 'Run To Me' and the two others are covers called 'Solitaire' by Neil Sedaka and 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' which is a classic by Simon & Garfunkel. My second favorites are his cover of the Righteous Brothers classic 'Unchained Melody' and his cover of Journey's 'Open Arms'. Third place is 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me' followed by 'I Will Carry You'.

I've never been to NYC, but for Clay, I'm going for the first time.
Bought our tickets, booked our flight, and our hotel.
Clay is going to blow the roof off that place! What an honor for him, to be ASKED by the best people in the industry to be in one of the most successful musical plays evah. And yet, despite all the accolades, all the fans cheering for him, we know that the praises will never go to his head...he'll
always just be his sweet self.
    Go show'em how it's done,Clay.

I have read many posts by the Fraud Squad and those from Kelly Clarkson Express who talk trash about Clay. My conclusion is that most of them have never experienced a life with a special needs child. The fact that they have all this time and money to spend on their computers tells me a lot about them and how comfortable their lives must be.

Some were jealous because of Clay's success vs their own idol. Why they could not focus their energies on supporting their idol, I will never understand. It is a proven fact that many of them have impersonated Clay's fans to make us look obnoxious/racist/homophobic. We can all name some of Kelly's biggest fans who became members of our fan boards to stir up trouble and some who to this day continue to do this. There are a couple of well known Ruben fans in the mix, but Kelly's fans were by far the most prevalent on the message boards and blogs.

It was a sad day when some of them sent racist letters to Star Jones as if they were Clay's fans. It was troubling enough but later to find out it was done by these other people, was shocking. In the first place, how dare they hurt another person in their pursuit of whatever it was they hoped to accomplish. They hurt Star Jones feelings and made her cry. It still bothers me to think about the hurt Star Jones must have felt. Yet those people were probably laughing at her reaction because they had just stuck another pin into Clay and his fans.

Those in the media appear greedy and somewhat stupid, and these people take advantage of that. They send a letter claiming to be someone they are not and the tale is bought, hook, line and sinker.

Other defamers wanted Clay's individual attention whether it was for them to feel special or for him to become their best friend or to fall in love with them. When that did not happen, they blamed him. How could they blame their perfect selves?

There are well known stories from reliable sources about some within our own fandom and their past behavior. How about one woman who cried hysterically on at least two different occasions when people in Clay's band told her Clay was NOT gay. There are many stories by others who were present and told about people being drunk, acting odd or changing their stories afterwards to make themselves look better.

It is interesting to observe them and their actions. Some in their group admit to writing letters to question organizations that either give Clay a special appointment (Presidential committee, UNICEF), have Clay appear at a charity event or hire him to perform. It is a fact that one charity, because they said they had no other information, reacted to letters and dropped Clay from an event thus losing money for their charity. And the people behind the smear laughed. They laughed and congratulated them selves on their success. But what about the charity and the loss of both money and respect. I guess it did not matter.

It is incomprehensible to me to think that these people must lead such lonely or out of touch lives with reality that their entire existence is to defame another person no matter the cost. I don't get it.
